April showers have brought us May flowers and a time of rebirth and regrowth in nature with the abundance of rainfall we have received this year. Market Report April 2017

Above is a link for our Bodega Bay Market Report for 12 months ending 30 April 2017.

The median price went up for Bodega Bay from $758,500 to $768,500 for a 12 month rolling average and remained at $854,500 in Bodega Harbour. April saw 7 homes placed in escrow (3 in Bodega Harbour) list price from $555,000 to $1,595,000.  There were 3 closings in April (0 in Bodega Harbour) at $533,000, $668,300 and $1,070,000.   1 lot was placed in escrow at $150,000 and 3 sold for $12,000, $150,000 and $395,000. Total listing inventory is down to 16 homes (7 in Bodega Harbour), but still up from last year of 12 homes available for sale, total sales for 12 months is 45 homes of which 28 are in Bodega Harbour, this is down from 66/41 homes respectively for the prior 12 months.   We have kept monthly median house prices since 2000 and have market reports going back to 1994.  If you are interested in the historical perspective, please email us and we will send it to you.

Interesting Note:  Sonoma County ranks 19th among ‘hottest’ housing markets in the nation, according to Realtor.com.

Dredging Planned for Bodega Bay This Fall.

Dredging is planned for Bodega Bay this fall.  After 17 years, the channel will be dredged to 12 feet where indicated on the map below.  The red arrow indicates where sediment is building up.

Fish Report

Salmon season is closed until May 15, but rock and lingcod fishing has been excellent this week off the Sonoma Coast reports Capt. Rick Powers of Bodega Bay Sportsfishing. Rick is also finding crab limits for his anglers. You can catch a limit of rock fish, lots of lingcod and Dungeness crab to bring home for a seafood feast fit for kings. Call Rick at 875-3344 to book a trip.

250,000 Salmon to Be Released in Bodega Bay

Some worry, others are hopeful.  This from an article in Point Reyes Gazette:

According to Victor Gonella, founder of the Golden Gate Salmon Association, Bodega Bay has been one of the hardest hit areas. He said “barely 1,000” salmon trollers were fishing in the Farallones sanctuary, down from 6,000 a decade or more ago.

The release project has been characterized as an experiment to help Fish and Wildlife understand both the recreational and commercial benefits of hatchery releases, as well as which streams the fish choose for spawning and how such releases affect wild salmon.

  • May 6th: Castles & Kites Festival, 10am – 5pm at Doran Beach State Park in Bodega Bay, CA 94923. Fly kites, build sand castles, join the sand castle building competition. This is an event not to be missed. Admission is free, however, there is a day use fee for parking at Doran Beach State Park.
