Dear Clients and Friends,

June is upon us!  Quoting Press Democrat’s writer Janet Balicki Weber, “Sonoma County is blessed when it comes to sunsets. There is something magical about the wonderful array of colors emitted when the sun sinks into the Pacific or disperses its golden rays among the vines.”  She’s put together 27 spectacular sunsets in Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino counties and places where we can all visit.  Thomas Cochrane writes about interesting geological phenomenons on the Sonoma and Mendocino coasts that we can visit as well.  Check out the articles and photos below.

Below please find our market report and summary/analysis, local news and events, coupons and then our various featured listings and sales with photos.  We have placed hyper links along the way to click through for more information.

Day Tripping to Some of the Coolest Rock Formations Along the Sonoma-Mendocino Coast

day-tripping

Bowling Ball Beach in Mendocino County, an oddity of mysterious rock formations visible at low tide.  Thomas E. Cochrane, Press Democrat, May 2017

Thomas Cochrane wrote this article http://www.pressdemocrat.com/lifestyle/6888416-181/daytripping-to-some-of-the?artslide=1 with several great photos of interesting geological phenomenons on the northern California coastline and has recently written a book about it, “Shaping the Sonoma-Mendocino Coast — Exploring the Coastal Geology of Northern California” (River Beach Press February 2017)

Fish Report

The rockfishing remains excellent and the salmon bite slow. On Saturday 6-3 Rick on the New Sea Angler ran south to Point Reyes. Rick reported good conditions and hot fishing. His 25 anglers landed limits of big rockfish adding 44 lings to 15 pounds. Rick said the wind stayed offshore all morning and filled in as the headed into the harbor at 2:00PM.
On the salmon front long time reader Karl K reported one salmon lost for two rods fishing from Bird to Elephant and then off the Head in 130 to 220 feet of water.

250,000 Salmon to Be Released in Bodega Bay Follow Up

State Decides Against Salmon Release as reported in the Press Democrat May, 2017.

Some worry, others are hopeful.  This from an article in Point Reyes Gazette:

According to Victor Gonella, founder of the Golden Gate Salmon Association, Bodega Bay has been one of the hardest hit areas. He said “barely 1,000” salmon trollers were fishing in the Farallones sanctuary, down from 6,000 a decade or more ago.

The release project has been characterized as an experiment to help Fish and Wildlife understand both the recreational and commercial benefits of hatchery releases, as well as which streams the fish choose for spawning and how such releases affect wild salmon.
