May is here!  Cinco de Mayo, The Triple Crown Horse Races, Mother’s Day, Prom, Memorial Day, the start of Farmer’s Markets!  Such a busy time of year and yet we also enjoy the tranquility and beauty of our coast that is magical, colorful, providing us with amazing sunsets, sounds of nature and the surf combined for a wonderful symphony to delight the senses.  Lots of great information to follow this month.
dennis and kathleenThis month also means the culmination of Dennis’ training for the full Ironman which is this Saturday, May 12th.  The race starts early with the 2.4 mile swim at Lake Sonoma, the 112 mile bike through Geyserville, over Chalk Hill Road twice and transitioning in Santa Rosa’s courthouse Square for the 26.2 mile run along the Santa Rosa Creek Trail.  Temperatures look to be upper 80s.  His training since September has given him over 500 hours under his belt.  As his #1 fan and supporter, I pray he has a safe, fun and fast race!  I’ll follow up next month with more.

Market Report April 2018

Above is a link for our Bodega Bay Market Report for 12 months ending 31 March 2018.

The median price went up for Bodega Bay from $952,000 to $979,000 for a 12 month rolling average and is the same as last month at $1,045,000 in Bodega Harbour.  This median price is up from $768,500 and $854,500 respectively from 12 months ago. April saw 7 homes placed in escrow (5 in Bodega Harbour) list price from $665,000 to $1,595,000.  There were 4 closings in March, 2 in Bodega Harbour) from $870,000 to $1,734,000.  Two lots were placed in escrow last month priced at $325,000 and $279,000, both in Bodega Harbour.  One lot sold outside Bodega Harbour for $150,000.  Total listing inventory is at 14 homes (7 in Bodega Harbour), total sales for 12 months is 79 homes of which 49 were in Bodega Harbour, up from 45/28 respectively 12 month prior.

Our local 76 gas station is closed for 5 weeks starting May 1st, 2018. 

Please make sure you conserve your gasoline as the closest gas station is Jenner north 12 miles away or inland East about 14 miles to Sebastopol.  They are installing diesel tanks and new gas pumps.

California Coastal Commission Postpones Highway One Realignment Vote

The Coastal Commission’s three-day meeting will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors chambers, 575 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa.The meetings begin at 9 a.m.The full reports and additional meeting information are available online here. Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller, “The Birds,” brought worldwide attention to the picturesque communities of Bodega and Bodega Bay, but the region itself has a rich and interesting history.

Fish Report

The fishing is hot and the sea conditions have been calm for the past several days. On Saturday 5-5 Rick on the New Sea Angler 24 limits of all quality rockies adding 19 lings to 17 pounds fishing at Pt Reyes.

Captain Jeff Caramella ran in the opposite direction to Timber Cover and reported limits of lings to 15 pounds and BIG blacks, vermilions and every other color of the rainbow.  Both Rick and Jeff have room all this coming week.

The New Sea Angler (707-875-3344) and the six-pack Miss Anita (707-875-3474) out of Bodega Bay.  They will take you on a trip to catch crab, rockfish and other fish.
