March is by far my favorite month on the coast.  Unless there is a storm, we can have the most vividly clear, calm, sunny days when everything is so green from the rain, flowers begin to bloom and the angle of the sun to earth this time of year also creates varying colors from deep to light blue oceans, amazing cloud formations which along with the sun casts interesting shadows across the landscape.   With the atmospheric pressure as such, we can see 20 miles out and literally the curvature of the earth.  The edge where the ocean meets the sky is razor sharp and on these types of days we comment about it as the “Cut Line”.

Market Report February 2017

Above is a link for our Bodega Bay Market Report for 12 months ending February 28, 2017.

The median price stayed the same for Bodega Bay at $797,500 12 month rolling average and increased from $945,000 in Bodega Harbour to $947,000. February saw 4 homes placed in escrow (2 in Bodega Harbour) list price from $849,000 to $1,395,000.  There were 3 closings in February (2 in Bodega Harbour) at $725,000 and $1,029,000.  Two lots sold last month in Bodega Harbour for $310,000 and $430,000. Total listing inventory is 18 homes (8 in Bodega Harbour) up from last year of 11 homes available for sale, total sales for 12 months is 52 homes of which 36 are in Bodega Harbour, this is down from 65/36 homes respectively for the prior 12 months.   We have kept monthly median house prices since 2000 and have market reports going back to 1994.  If you are interested in the historical perspective, please email us and we will send it to you.

Interesting Note:  Sonoma County ranks 19th among ‘hottest’ housing markets in the nation, according to Realtor.com.

“Sonoma County Restaurant Week kicks off Monday with 128 dining establishments and eateries taking part around the county.

The eighth-annual event brings a surge of diners to area restaurants and allows patrons to enjoy prix-fixe lunches and dinners. Depending on the establishment, the two-course lunches are priced at $10 or $15, while the three-course dinners are offered for $19, $29 or $39.

Last year’s event provided a $3.08 million boost to the local economy, according to the county’s Economic Development Board. In 2015, a quarter of the customers surveyed during the week were from outside the county.”  ROBERT DIGITALE THE PRESS DEMOCRAT | March 4, 2017

Sonoma State Surf Club Makes Waves

Excerpt from the article: “We also offer to give lessons for anyone who wants to learn how to surf in the Surf Club. They can rent out any boards or wetsuits at Bodega Bay Surf Shack and we would just spend the whole day with them out on the water,” Garcia said.

5th Hitchcock Film Festival, March 18th

Hitchcock directed his first film in 1925 and rose to become the master of suspense, internationally recognized for his intricate plots and novel camera technique.   • March 18th: Annual Hitchcock Film Festival, at the Bodega Bay Grange Hall, 1370 Bodega Avenue, Bodega Bay, CA 94923. Two movies will be shown:  The Birds and Rear Window.  Two of Hitchcock’s best movies.  The fun begins at 3:30 pm for an introduction by Dan Sneed, Hitchcock Expert Enthusiast, then watch The Birds.  At 7:00, Rear Window will start. Advanced ticket purchases are required for the movie showings.  Movie tickets are $10 per person for general admission or $18 for both shows and children under 12 is $5.
